Jagdschloss, Riesling Sekt Brut, 2009

5/5 $17.00

Get ready for another extremely positive sparkling wine review. But I mean, ’tis the season right? When temperatures are nearing 100 degrees, we all want and need something easy, cold, and well, alcoholic. This sparkler is actually from Germany and shockingly (to me at least) a not sweet Riesling. This grape is notorious for its saccharine notes; however, in this case you will taste a light, mineral, dry, and of course, bubbly wine. Definitely serve this very chilled, and you’ll get some hints of citrus and fruit, with a good amount of acid for that crisp bite. It actually has a decent body to it, so would pair quite well with smoked salmon, seafood, or great creamy cheese!

Advertising professional by day and wine drinker by night, often overwhelmed by the sheer choices in wine stores, I have a tendency to not drink the same wine twice. My biggest tip to all Amateur winos, never swirl the glass in your hand, you just look pretentious. Swirl it on the table and you'll never worry again about that favorite sweater having a big red wine stain on it.
