Cupcake Vineyards, Sauvignon Blanc, 2010

3/5 $10.99

Holy citrus! This Sauvignon Blanc by Cupcake Vineyards can only be described as citrus-y from start to finish. Not to say that is a bad thing; however, it is not a wine you necessarily find to have a great deal of depth. Overall, it is light, crisp, and does honestly hint to the namesake of “cupcakes,” in that you might say it tastes like a Lemon Chiffon cupcake. To that point, the intensity of the grapefruit, lemon, and lime may make it hard to pair with foods (except maybe a cupcake), and also leave some things left to be desired for the more advanced palate. Then again, on a warm summer night with some of your best girlfriends, this is a great go to, and as the months start heating up it’s definitely one to keep in mind.

Advertising professional by day and wine drinker by night, often overwhelmed by the sheer choices in wine stores, I have a tendency to not drink the same wine twice. My biggest tip to all Amateur winos, never swirl the glass in your hand, you just look pretentious. Swirl it on the table and you'll never worry again about that favorite sweater having a big red wine stain on it.
