Senda 66, Tempranillo, 2008

4/5 $12.00

I bought this wine after a recommendation from a staff member at one of my favorite wine stores in Flatiron, NYC (cough Bottlerocket on 19th between 5th and 6th cough). My criteria: red, medium-bodied, dry, a bit fruity, and something that could go with a nice simple meal. He asked region. I said Spain. His recommendation of the Senda 66 was exactly that! This wine is a great value and a perfect accompaniment to lighter fare: chicken, fish, or pasta. Perhaps think of buying this when you want to impress a date who’s cooking you dinner without spending too much. And for those who love labels (such as myself), can’t go wrong with this one.

Advertising professional by day and wine drinker by night, often overwhelmed by the sheer choices in wine stores, I have a tendency to not drink the same wine twice. My biggest tip to all Amateur winos, never swirl the glass in your hand, you just look pretentious. Swirl it on the table and you'll never worry again about that favorite sweater having a big red wine stain on it.
